Nominations are called annually for the S. E. Stephens History Award.
Nominations must be received by the Secretary of the Cairns Historical
Society on or before the 28 February, each year. The Award will be
presented during Heritage Week in April.
Applicants for the Award
should have spent several years researching and disseminating North
Queensland history in the form of papers, newspaper items, journal
articles, books, documentaries, photographic collections, exhibitions or
a combination of these. The focus of the work should be on North
Queensland history, taking in the area from a line Cardwell to Burketown
and north to Torres Strait.
The work should be mainly original and expand the knowledge of Far North Queensland history.
The Award can be made to an individual or a group.
Applicants do not have to live in North Queensland.
Winning
the Award does not necessarily preclude the winner from being nominated
for a subsequent award based on newly published material.
Nominations for the Award will be called annually and if the criteria as outlined above are satisfied, presented annually.
Nominations must be accompanied by appropriate supporting materials outlining the achievements of the person/group selected.
