Theo Tremblay has a vast collection of shavers, acquired over more than 20 years of casual collecting. 

His collecting philosophy would send shivers down the spine of any connoisseur – “why deny the accession of any razors into the collection”. 

Consequently, Theo’s collection is now vast and eclectic. Historic and modern, steel and plastic, mens and womens, used and unused, functional and toy – every binary is captured in Theo’s collection of consumer shaverology. His only constraint has been affordability. Spending more than three dollars is a major expense.

As a practicing artist, he has manufactured his own shavers, using random objects that feel like a match for a razor head.

Theo says you won’t find rare materials like bone china or gold or prestigious designer labels or makers marks flaunting token status.

“Shavers inspire me because of their inventiveness and good sense of design. I haven’t used them all but sometimes I think about it … “

In a collection that encompasses polished Toledo steel strop razors, cheap compact novelties and even make-do snap off measuring tape steel of Walpiri origins, there’s plenty to imagine.
