New exhibition marks 45 years of the Cairns Museum in the School of Arts building

This year, Cairns Museum is celebrating a major milestone, 45 years since the Society and Museum moved into the iconic School of Arts building on Lake Street. To mark the occasion, a new exhibition, If These Walls Could Talk, is now on display exploring the evolution of the building and the Society’s role in preserving the region’s history.

From its early days as a library and lecture hall to its transformation into a museum and research centre, the School of Arts has long been a space for learning, storytelling and community. The exhibition shines a light on the people and projects that helped shape the Museum and the legacy it continues to build.
